Leave and sick days lived in a spreadsheet kept by hand. "Who's in next week?"—a question answered by a round of messages.
What we built
An agent in the messenger: the employee writes in their own words—"I'd like 5 days off from 15 December"—the manager approves with one message, and in the morning management has the summary ready: who is on leave, who is off sick.

The agent checks the Russian public holiday calendar—with all its moved holidays—without a human.
"Five working days from 15 December" comes out right in December and over the May holidays alike. A one-day error here ruins someone's vacation, so we did not leave the day count even to an employee—only to the calendar.
